Critical Infrastructure

Physical Security &
Vulnerability Assessment

Independent evaluation of a facility's ability to detect, delay, and respond to an adversary — and a clear, prioritised roadmap to close the gaps that matter most.

Every physical protection system exists to perform three functions well: detect an adversary, delay their progress long enough for a response to arrive, and enable an effective response. A facility with excellent cameras and a slow response force is no more secure than one with no cameras at all.

GTS's vulnerability assessment practice is built around evaluating exactly this balance. Our assessors combine site walkdowns, adversary sequence and path analysis, and — where appropriate — coordinated performance testing to identify the specific paths an adversary could realistically exploit, and which mitigations offer the greatest risk reduction for the investment required.

This work is performed for government, military, and private-sector clients across nuclear, critical infrastructure, and general high-consequence facility categories, scaled to the client's regulatory environment.

More Cameras Isn't the Answer. Balance Is.

Detect. Delay. Respond.

Every assessment measures the same three functions, and how well they work together as one system.

Path-Based Analysis

Ranking the specific routes an adversary could take, not just reviewing technology in isolation.

Risk-Ranked Findings

A prioritised roadmap, not an undifferentiated list — so the highest-risk gaps get addressed first.

What We Deliver

A Roadmap,
Not Just Findings

GTS assessments are grounded in the same detection-delay-response framework used across the physical protection industry: we evaluate each layer of a facility's defence-in-depth independently, then assess how the layers function together as an integrated system.

Where a facility already has a defined Design Basis Threat, our assessment is structured directly against it; where one does not yet exist, GTS can support its development as a first step. For facilities still in planning, this same discipline is far cheaper to apply before the building exists — see our Design & Construction Security Advisory service.

Core Deliverables
Vulnerability, threat & risk assessments. Structured evaluation of a protection system against a defined adversary capability.
Adversary sequence & path analysis. Identifying and ranking the routes an adversary could take to reach a critical target.
Protection system performance testing. Coordinated, safety-controlled testing of detection and response timelines.
Blast effects analysis. Stand-off distances, structural vulnerability, and Design Basis Threat application.
Security system analysis & oversight. Technical review and independent oversight during installation or upgrade projects.
Protection system optimisation. Right-sizing ad hoc programs to reduce cost without reducing effectiveness.

Our Methodology

Prioritised.
Risk-Ranked. Actionable.

GTS assessments are grounded in the same detection-delay-response framework used across the physical protection industry. Findings are delivered as a prioritised, risk-ranked roadmap — not an undifferentiated list — so that clients with constrained budgets can address the highest-risk gaps first.

A Slow Response Erases a Fast Detection
Vulnerability assessment reports contain sensitive facility-specific information. GTS handles all assessment data under strict confidentiality and, where applicable, in accordance with the client's own classification and handling requirements.
